What works the same as Final Draft
- The same element flow: Enter and Tab move between scene heading, action, character and dialogue.
- Industry-standard pages in 12-point Courier, with (MORE) and (CONT'D) when dialogue breaks.
- SmartType completes character names, locations and transitions as you type.
- Scene navigator, index cards and character, scene and location reports.
- Opens and saves Final Draft (.fdx) and Fountain files, and exports PDF.
What is missing
- 5 of the 68 Final Draft features in the project's own comparison aren't done yet.
How to get started
- There's no installer yet, so it has to be built from the source code.
- Install Rust, version 1.95 or newer.
- Download the project and run cargo run --release -p scriptcraft in its folder. It opens a sample script.
