RENotepad

What works the same as Notepad

• Tabs in the title bar, a flat menu bar with File, Edit and View, and a status bar with line, zoom and encoding.
• It keeps Windows, Unix and old Mac line endings exactly as they are, like the original.
• A file whose first line is .LOG gets a timestamp every time you open it.
• It brings over the files you pinned to the Notepad taskbar jump list.

What is missing

• Windows may warn you the first time, because the files are not signed yet.
• Importing pins from Windows 10 Notepad is untested so far.

How to get started

1. Click Download. It opens the project versions page.
2. Take the installer, or the portable zip to run it without installing. It needs Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
3. If Windows warns about the file, choose More info, then Run anyway.
