What works the same as After Effects
- The same panels: Project, Composition, Timeline, Effect Controls, and Effects & Presets.
- Keyframes that behave the same, with a Graph Editor.
- 306 effects, layer styles and expressions.
- 3D cameras and lights, and a render queue.
What is missing
- It is an alpha version. The project says it isn't yet a replacement for After Effects on client work.
- It can't open After Effects projects (.aep), and After Effects plug-ins don't run.
- Results can still differ from After Effects in places.
- Mac is the most tested system; Windows and Linux users have found basic bugs.
How to get started
- Click Download. It opens the EffectCraft page on the ArtCraft site.
- Pick the version for your computer: Windows, Mac or Linux.
- Install it, open EffectCraft and animate your layers with keyframes.
